The LYLC started in 1993 as a three-day conference at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and the College of Southern Nevada campuses. The LYLC has expanded into six days, five-night experience and is now celebrating 31 years this upcoming July 2024.

Back then, the LYLC Planning Committee was composed of only a handful of coordinators. Today the conference is put on by 13 coordinators and 21 youth alumni.

The LYLC is completely run by dedicated and passionate volunteers.

Our Participants:

  • Build familias, participants begin as strangers and leave with a large network and support group that serves as an extended family stretching for over 31 years.

  • Learn the importance of pursuing and completing higher education. Our students are challenged to reach their educational goals and are provided with ample support to ensure they fulfill their highest potential.

  • Students engage in service projects during and after the conference. Participants also explore and build their leadership styles through the context of community service.

Lasting Bonds
Familias are forever. Participants are placed in Familias throughout the week of the conference.

Familias consist of 9-10 participants and 2 Peer Facilitators.

Peer Facilitators undergo a year-long training and highly selective process. The experience of the LYLC would not be the same without our peer facilitators.

In keeping with our growth, the day-to-day operations of the Latino Youth Leadership Conference is executed through the Latino Youth Leadership Foundation, officially established as a 501C3 non-profit organization in 2015.
