When will the Latino Youth Leadership Conference take place?

The 2025 LYLC will take place from July 15th, 2025 - July 20th, 2025. It will last six days and five nights.

Question 2

Do the students have to sleep over at the conference, if so, where do they sleep?

Accepted Answer

All participants and staff stay at the UNLV dorms for the entire duration of the conference.​ Students have a shared dorm and bathroom for the week and round-the-clock staff assistance if needed.

Question 3

Can I select what days I want to attend the LYLC?

Accepted Answer

Selected participants are required to stay for the entire duration of the LYLC.​ The program is designed to build a week-long experience therefore, complete attendance is necessary.

Question 4

Who can apply to and attend the LYLC?

Accepted Answer

All Nevada high school juniors and seniors, both existing and incoming, are encouraged to apply. Students of all cultural and socio-economic backgrounds, academic standings, religions and beliefs, sexual orientations, and citizenship statuses are welcome.

Question 5

Are you allowed to participate in LYLC more than one year?

Accepted Answer

No, you can only attend the LYLC once as a participant. However, upon successful completion of the LYLC, Alumni are eligible to apply to become peer staff for the following year(s).

Question 6

Is there a G.P.A. requirement to apply or attend?

Accepted Answer

The LYLC is not solely a merit-based or need-based conference. We do not ask for G.P.A. requirements or transcripts. We believe everyone has a story to share, knowledge to contribute, and a future to be proud of.

Question 7

How much does the LYLC cost to apply and attend?

Accepted Answer

Both applying to and attending the conference is completely FREE. All accommodations, meals, and conference materials are provided at NO COST to the student or their families.​

Question 8

When will applicants be notified if they have been accepted or waitlisted to participate in LYLC 2025?

Accepted Answer

Applicants will receive an email with their application status after the application is closed and our team has reviewed all applications. Notification emails are estimated to be sent out starting in May 2025.

​If a student is selected to attend, will more information about the LYLC be provided?

Accepted Answer

Parents/Guardians and selected participants are encouraged to attend the orientation the Friday prior to the LYLC beginning which will contain all information necessary.
